Here are some recommendations for what to bring to China (cut from another website, with some items emphasized. Of course, you don't have to bring a laptop or camera.

In addition to the below, you may like to take vaccinations if you haven't already done so, but it is not strictly necessary for such a short trip to a big city like Beijing.

I recommend bringing games/juggling items, frisbees (i'll bring some) things that may be fun to have but hard to come by in China.

Electric outlets are compatible with those in most western countries.

A couple of questions about the checklist:

Should we really bring laundry soap?
What are ziplock plasic bags good for?
Also, I suspect that stuff like shampoo, earplugs, deodorant etc etc are easily available in Beijing so what are the reasons for bringing stuff like that?
I guess a Visa card (and som cach) will be quite sufficient as far as money is concerned?
Will a flashlight really be of any use?

I could go on, but I guess it all adds up to a question about the list. Is it taken from a place about a trip that has very little in common with ours?

So, two things I do wonder about:

Appropriate clothing - Will there ever be any need of warmer clothing, ie fleece, or will T-shirt and something wind- and waterproof do?
Should we bring sheets and a pillowcase?

all living stuff can be easily bought in beijing, visa/master card ok, no need sheet stuff,, will be hot there, so summer clothing, or no clothing :> but in june it can be cool and raining so a jacket is enough.
